Wilkonska, Antonina
Social worker. Born in Kurilowka, in Southeastern Poland, then a part of old Russia on Oct. 1, 1858. She was still a child when her home was ravaged by Cossacks quelling a Polish uprising. Her father was sent to Siberia as an exile. Arrived in U.S. Nov. 6, 1940, settling in New York, N.Y. Has been active in charitable work to aid Polish war victims. For many years she was the closest companion and the hostess for her brother, Ignace Paderewski. Was an accomplished pianist, although she never made concert appearances. Died Nov. 6, 1941, and buried temporarily in the cemetery of the Felician Sisters, at Lodi, N.J.From: "Who's Who in Polish America" by Rev.
