Wisniowski (Wismowski), Zygurd
Poet, traveler, explorer. Born in 1841 in Podole, Poland. Graduated from the University of Lwow, Poland. In 1862 went to Sydney, Australia, where he opened two old mines: New Warsaw and The Poles Diggins. Editor of the only daily paper in Australia: "Gornik Ravenswood" (Ravenswood Miner). Later came to United States. In 1873 returned to Poland, to Lwow. In 1876 went to Warsaw, where he died in 1892. In 1872 published: "Dziesiec lat w Australii"; "Dzieci Krolowej Oceanji," 1877; "Swiatelka w ciemnym Kraju," 1879. Translator of Thomas Carlyle's: "Sartor Resartus."
