(1927 - 2009)NEW YORK - Dr. Frederick E. Witek, 82, a resident of Port Chester, New York died October 29, 2009.
He was born May 2, 1927 in Greenwich CT to the late Casimir Witek and Ann Kusiak-Witek.
He served in the United Stated Air Force as a Surgical Technician where he received a Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal and an American Theater Service Ribbon.
He graduated from the University of Louisville KY with a Bachelor of Arts in 1951 and graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport IA with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1954 and was self employed as a Doctor of Chiropractic in Port Chester, NY. He was also an active member of the Joseph Pilsudski Society and Chairman of their Scholarship Committee. He also volunteered with many organizations.
He was married August 29, 1951 to Ann Hliva of Greenwich who died November 29, 2001. He is survived by his daughter Cheryl L. (Witek) Richards and son-in-law Dr. Janusz R. Richards of Port Chester NY, and a sister Sophie Gabel of Crescent Springs KY, nephews Lou (Venice FL), Henry (Milford CT) and Charles m (West Babylon NY). He is predeceased by his two brothers Ludwik and Charles Jr, Dr. Witek and his brother Charles began the Witek's Polka Party on WGCH Radio-Greenwich CT in 1964. Dr. Witek and his daughter Cheryl celebrated their 45th year of broadcasting polka music in May 2009. Cheryl will continue on with the polka show, as that was her dad's wish.
A Memorial Service was celebrated on Tuesday, November 2, 2009 and interment followed at Putnam Cemetery in Greenwich, CT.
