..... Fr. Stephen (Szczepan) J. Wyborski (1889-1971)
He was born in the Poznan area on November 23, 1889, and was educated at the Polish Seminary in Orchard Lake and at St. Charles Seminary in Overbrook, PA. His ordination to the priesthood took place on June 8, 1919 in Philadelphia by Bishop Dennis Dougherty. First mass at St. Stanislaw's Church in Philadelphia. Then he worked as assistant pastor at St. Hedwig's parish in Chester (1919-1921); at St. Josephat's in Philadelphia (1921 1922); at St. Casimir's in Shenandoah, PA (1922); at St. Adalbert's, Philadelphia (1922-1924); as chaplain to the [Nazareth] Sisters in Torresdale (1924-1930). Assistant pastor at St. John Kanty in Philadelphia; at Panna Maria [Virgin Mary] in Reading; at St. Kunegunda in McAdoo, 1930-1931; at St. Philip in Philadelphia and in Lansford (1931-1932). Currently at St. Philip's (1938).
