1999 Captain Joseph L. Wyszynski
Older brother of Captain Leo J. Wyszynski, is the son of Joseph and Lorraine Wyszynski, who are members of St. Hedwig's Parish in the Fairmount section of Philadelphia. Captain Wyszynski is a 1993 West Point graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations, and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Infantry. After receiving Infantry Officer Basic Training at Fort Benning, Georgia and successfully completing the Army's rigorous Ranger School, he was assigned to serve with the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
From May, 1994 until June, 1997, he served as a Rifle Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer and Battalion S3-Air and also participated in Operation Uphold Democracy in Haiti as a Rifle Platoon Leader and again as the S3 Air. From May, 1998 until May, 1999, CPT Wyszynski served overseas as an Operations Officer in the G3 section of the Second Infantry Division in Uijongbou, Korea.
He currently serves as the Regimental Training Officer for the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division and is slated to command A Company, 2nd Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, upon the Company's redeployment from Kosovo.
His military education includes the Infantry Officer's Basic and Advanced Courses, Combined Arms Staff School, TOW Platoon Leader's Course, Combat Lifesaver Course, Bradley Commander's Course, Airborne, Air Assault, Jumpmaster, and Ranger Schools.
CPT Wyszynski's awards include the Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Army Overseas Ribbon, two Awards of the Army Achievement Medal, three awards of the Army Commendation Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Expert Infantryman's Badge, Air Assault Badge, Senior Parachutist�s Award and the coveted Ranger Tab.
