....... Marie Podhor has been an artist from childhood and her work has earned acclaim. Her painting have the qualities of great vitality, vivid colors and good modern technique. As an artist she likes careful detail work using the techniques she learned during her travels and studies. This is manifested in her choice of compositions and the quality of the drawing, color and the technique used with various media. She usually paints with oil on canvas, water colors or the best quality of soft pastels on card paper. She also likes the technique of sketching which she continues every week. In her paintings one can notice the influence of French tradition and that of the American schools with a return to the perfectionism of the Old Masters.

Despite the wide spectrum of themes in her paintings, her line of abstracts is very specific, harking to quasi-geometric forms which is evident in her specific way of observing the world and her application of color and rigor to the geometric forms.

Presently she resides in New York City and continues her work with the National Academy of the Fine Arts. She is a frequently present at the Salmagundi Club and the National Art Club of New York City, as well as at the New York Student League. She has had exhibitions at the PII Galery in Philadelphia on 242 Race Street; and in New York at the Salmagundi Art Club, 47 Fifth Avenue.
